The likeness of those who expend their wealth in the way of God is as the likeness of a grain that grows seven ears, in every ear a hundred grains; and God multiplies for whom He will; and God is All-embracing, Knowing (Al Quran)

Lo those who believe and do good deeds and establish salat and pay zakah, their reward is with the Sustainer; and no fear shall come on them, nor shall they grieve.' (2:227)
'
Zakah (welfare contribution) is obligatory on every Muslim who is sahib-e-nisab. It is a pillar of Islam and the Qur'an has emphasised it equally as salah (prayer). The Prophet(saw) says: If they accept Islam, then inform them that Allah enjoined on them zakah to be taken from their rich, and given to the poor among them.

Zakah should be paid at the
rate of 2.5% on any wealth (cash, savings, investments, gold and silver, etc) remaining after meeting the expenses for such necessities as food, clothes, housing, vehicles and craft machines, which has been held for over 12 months. READ Foundation accepts Zakah amounts to be spent on educational needs of orphans and needy students. Currently Foundation is catering 5600 orphan students, whom all educational needs (books, stationery, school bags, shoes) are provided at no cost and above all free quality education.

As Zakah is compulsory on those who can pay, therefore it is important to calculate it accurately.

Calculation = (zakahable   x   2.5)/100
