OUR
PROJECTS
Many
of the Read Foundation Schools are self sustainable in their routine
matters. As a Not-for-Profit organization continued incursion
of funds for the enhancement of our development & welfare
projects is required.

In
1997, the Foundation prepared a plan to impart education
to the poor and destitute children, especially to orphans.
According to this plan, all the educational needs such
as books, stationery, school bags, uniform, shoes, etc.
are met by the Foundation. At the time of commencement
of this plan, the number of stakeholders was 374; which
has now grown up to 6,388. Under this project, all the
orphan children hoping for seeking admission in our
schools are registered. There is no limit to the number
of children in READ’s school system. A donor may
sponsor one or more children. READ Foundation provides
all information about sponsored children at the time
of sponsorship while the educational progress reports
are submitted at the end of every academic year.
Please donate
generously for these students' sponsorship.

The
concept of real and sustainable socio-economic development
cannot be realized without the active participation
of women in every sphere of life. The existing facilities
for female education in our country are insufficient
rather non-existent, especially, in the rural areas.
A large number of girls drop out at secondary level
due to the non-availability of convenient schooling
facilities. The READ Foundation is carrying out an extensive
educational program to endow the women of rural and
underdeveloped areas with quality education. During
the first phase of this plan, the Foundation has incorporated
three residential Academies up to the secondary level
in three districts of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Students
in these institutions are being imparted the knowledge
of modern sciences and computer, along with the basic
concepts of the Qur'an and Sunnah. In these institutions,
the major part of expenditures, particularly that of
boarding & lodging, are subsidized by the Foundation,
whereas a nominal fee is charged for the resting expenses.
Up to this moment Foundation is operating in rental
buildings for these academy schools. Please donate
generously for these students' sponsorship.

Since
2001, READ Foundation is also providing financial assistance
to professional students in terms of their boarding
and tuition fees; under its extensive educational support
project. The project was put in place primarily for
the children of families with difficult living conditions
and poor socio-economic status. 13 students from different
areas of expertise (Medical, Engineering, Agriculture
and other professions) are currently benefiting from
aid of this project. READ Foundation has very limited
resources to help such students and poverty also inhibits
such exceptional children to excel in life. The numbers
of these outstanding students are in thousands. READ
Foundation seeks your support so please Donate to support
these needy and talented students.

Since
its inauguration in 1994, READ Foundation has now a
network of 323 schools of which 151 schools are of primary
and elementary levels, 130 Elementary level, 38 High
schools and 4 intermediate colleges. At present about
74% students (of our total student population) are studying
in our primary and elementary level schools. Uptil today,
READ Foundation has been able to house 25 of its Primary
level schools into their own purpose-built buildings,
while 7 others are under construction. The remaining
schools are running in rental buildings. We usually
acquire land for construction through the sponsorships
of local community. It is however very rare to obtain
land in the form of donation. If this situation arises,
the Foundation arranges for monetary donations to purchase
the land for a new school on a priority basis. A donor
can donate either for the land and the construction
of building, or only for the procurement of land or
both. The cost of land depends on location and specification.
Most of these schools are fully equipped with their
libraries. Orphan students in these schools are enjoying
free education along with all allied educational needs
that includes books, stationery, school bags, uniform
and shoes etc. Construction of a school building serves
as Sadaqa-e-Jariya (perpetual philanthropy). Donors
may dedicate a building to their beloved ones.
It
may be noted here that apart from permanent school buildings,
READ Foundation currently undertakes the execution of
75 prefabricated semi-permanent primary school building
projects in earthquake hit areas of AJK. Total number
of classrooms being installed is 640. This would provide
a safe learning space for over 19,000 earthquake-afflicted
children.
Please
ask for project proposal
for donation of Primary School Building(s).

the READ Foundation began its work, it now has a network
of 323 schools of which 38 school have upgraded to secondary
level and four Intermediate colleges. At present about
26% students (of our total student population) are studying
in higher level schools. As of June 2006, 4 schools
out of 38 have been housed in their own proposed buildings,
while three are under construction. Please ask for project
proposal for a High School Building(s).

READ
believes it is essential for the younger generation
to be exposed to the essential skills of information
technology.. Information technology has not only reached
new heights and opened unlimited vistas for the new
generation; its knowledge has also become the need
of the hour. No education system can prove itself
capable of fulfilling the contemporary challenges
without the inclusion of the computer education in
its curricula. The READ Foundation recognizes I.T,
education as the basic need in view of the present
day trends and requirements. It has therefore, made
special efforts to hold computer centers from primary
up to the college level. To date, we have been able
to establish 45 state-of-the-art Computer centers
in our Middle and High level institutions. A full-fledged
costs us Rs.550, 000 (US$9,200 or £5,240). Please

Foundation encourages the advancement and development
of science and technology within their schools. We are
making every possible effort to address this crucial
need within our schools network. All our High schools
and some Middle schools are equipped with appropriate
science laboratories. We are aiming to provide all schools
with the relevant science laboratories in due course.
To date we have been able to establish 58 full-fledged
science labs in our Middle and High level institutions.

Students
are needed to study extensively besides their syllabi.
As all the students cannot purchase a wide range of
books, a well-furnished library in the schools can address
this problem. Unfortunately, there is a dearth of libraries
in the entire education system in Pakistan. READ Foundation
has made special efforts to establish libraries in its
schools and serving to the educational needs of poor
and underprivileged students, at the moment, a majority
of our schools have their own libraries. You can help
us to provide more facilities to the far-flung rural
children of Pakistan. Please Donate for school Libraries.

The
quality of teaching received by a child is a crucial determinant
in the child’s learning. Therefore the quality of
teacher training is a serious matter for attention as
it seeks to improve the educational outcomes for young
people in schools. It is vital that we train teachers
to educate effectively in the classroom. READ Foundation
provides up-to-date and goal-oriented training to its
teaching faculty. The Foundation's Human Resources (HR)
department coordinates and arranges training courses,
workshops for its schoolteachers, management and supporting
staff to equip them with necessary professional competencies.
A training center has been set up in Islamabad for this
purpose. So far (up till June, 2006) READ Foundation has
conducted 455 training workshop (including field workshops)
which altogether benefited 11,657 teachers and supervisory
staff. The courses for these training workshops are:
• Early Childhood Education
• Subject-Specific Training
• English Competency
• Effective Management and Implementation Skills
• Educational Leadership and Management
• Fahm-e-Din
• Fahm-e-Tadrees-ul-Quran
• Computer Proficiency
• Training of Trainers (ToT)
• Time Management
